5 Common Myths About Tarot — And What It Actually Is

January 20, 2026|4 min read

When people hear the word "tarot," they often picture crystal balls, dark rooms, and dramatic predictions about the future. But the reality of a tarot reading — especially one rooted in faith and intention — is nothing like that.

Let's clear up some of the most common misconceptions.

Myth #1: Tarot Predicts Your Future

The truth: Tarot doesn't tell you what will happen. It illuminates the energies, patterns, and possibilities surrounding your current path. Think of it as a mirror for your inner landscape — reflecting what you might already sense but haven't been able to articulate.

A reading empowers you to make more aligned decisions. It doesn't remove your free will; it honors it.

Myth #2: Tarot Is Against Faith

The truth: This is one I hear often, and I understand the concern. In my practice, tarot is used as a symbolic tool for reflection — not as fortune-telling or divination that replaces God's guidance.

I approach every reading with prayer, scripture, and a Christ-centered heart. The cards are a language for insight, not a replacement for faith.

Myth #3: You Have to Be "Spiritual" to Benefit

The truth: You don't need to meditate daily, burn sage, or know your zodiac sign to benefit from a tarot reading. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to sit with whatever comes through.

Some of my most powerful sessions have been with people who walked in skeptical and walked out with tears of clarity.

Myth #4: Tarot Readers Are Psychic

The truth: I don't claim to be psychic. What I am is trained, accredited, and deeply attuned to the symbolic language of the cards. Combined with spiritual intuition and years of study, a reading becomes a meaningful dialogue — not a magic trick.

Myth #5: One Reading Tells You Everything

The truth: A single reading can be incredibly revealing, but your life is always evolving. Many of my clients return for follow-up sessions as they move through different seasons — using tarot as an ongoing tool for reflection and alignment.

Curious?

If any of this resonated, I'd love to read for you. Whether you choose a Freestyle Reading, a Celtic Cross, or a deep-dive Comprehensive Life Reading, every session is held with care, intention, and sacred space.

You don't have to have it all figured out. That's what we're here for.
